The heat is on folks! In fact, we will come very close to 'heat wave' status over the next several days, although I think we'll fall just a bit short (you need 3 consecutive days of 90+ heat for it to be an official heat wave).

Fog will lead the way Tuesday morning, locally dense with visibility less than 1/4 mile in a few spots. The fog should hang tough through mid-morning, and then begin to lift by late-morning. By noontime, we should be into hazy sunshine, and that's what we'll see for the rest of the day. Highs will rocket up into the upper 80s to near 90 with moderate humidity. Take it easy in the midday sun, and drink plenty of water if you're going to spend an extended amount of time outdoors!

The chance for thunderstorms is pretty slim today, with just an isolated storm possible this afternoon. The best shot for any action will be across the Berkshires, but most towns should stay dry. Tonight looks dry as well, with fog redeveloping and lows in the mid to upper 60s.Changes on the way for tomorrow, as a cold front marches eastward into New England. Clouds will build during the afternoon, and storms should start to fire up towards evening. Those showers and storms should last into much of the overnight. The main concern is that storms will move slowly and feature tropical downpours. Localized flooding, especially since the ground is already soaked, is a good bet. Stay tuned for the latest, as Watches and Warnings may need to be posted.

Lingering showers and storms are possible early on Thursday, but most of the day looks like it will stay dry. Once again we'll look at high humidity and warm temperatures well into the 80s. Friday we could even hit 90, before another cold front arrives during the evening. More showers and storms should hit before the day ends, with more locally heavy rainfall possible.

Here's the good news: the weekend currently looks fantastic. Highs in the low 80s with comfortable humidity and lots of sunshine is the current forecast. Stay tuned for updates!
